I can easily tell that the main concept in this image is transportation. There are images if a train, subway, train tracks, and even a little toy train set. If the idea of transportation wasn’t clear enough through the images, he also threw in “on the move” phrase near the bottom.
How is shape used in the composition? 2-d, 3-d, grouping of shapes, etc. How were elements of shape used to optimum effect in composition? If shape was not effective give reasons.
Shape is used in the composition by the four different pictures making squares in different sizes. Additionally, shape is used by the pictures in which the subways, trains or rails are going different ways in the composition. The grouping of the shapes and pictures shows the viewer that they objects in each picture go together. The use of the toy train on the tracks shows 2-d, while the other trains are more 3-d.
Question 5 – Personal Perspective – Quality
What do you think of the quality of the design and composition?
I think that the composition was well thought out as each of the images uses either line or shape effectively and the collection of the images together uses shape effectively, but the quality of the image could have been better with the integration to the images together as opposed to just fitting them side by side in to a single composition.
How is space used in the composition? (filling the space:concept of Positive/Negative explored. Techniques which may create the illusion of space(which techniques)? How were elements of space used to optimum effect in composition? If space was not effective give reasons.
- I feel that theres too much stuff going on that there’s no “breathing space”. Negative space seems to be not existing here. Seeing as there are too many trains here, Me, as a viewer of the image, is kinda confused. It would probably better if there was only 1 rail, 1 train. Then I could easily tell the “Space” the train is on.
